It can be trickier than it seems, especially if you go with their default option! The Westin Columbus, a stunning architectural marvel, offers a versatile backdrop for your dream wedding. Tips for Hosting the Perfect Wedding at the Westin Columbus
1. Layout
DJs Don’t Like Corners: The typical spot for the DJ to setup is in the corner. With their speakers angled perpendicular to the crowd. While not ideal in a normal space, this is a big issue at the Westin due to the length of the space and the high ceilings. Have your ceremony and dinner in the main section if possible, and leave the smaller area for the DJ and dancing. It makes everything sound and look so much better and this leads to more dancing!
Big Room, Marble Floors: Once your DJ is setup facing the crowd, it is key they have the right speakers to fill the space without it being too echo-y. Marble floors reflect sound more than other flooring materials, so having speakers with long reach, and less boom will sound best. Your DJ can also add a wireless speaker at the back of the space to help fill in the sound.
Room Flip: If you are having your ceremony at the Westin, expect to have cocktail hour in the foyer space, while the staff performs a room flip.
Eye-Catching Decor: I recommend at least sixteen uplights to adequately light the space, but more can be added for an enhance dramatic look.

Hire a Professional DJ: A skilled DJ can create the perfect atmosphere for your wedding, from the romantic ceremony music to the energetic dance floor mixes. Having the right speakers is key for the ballroom of The Westin AND the cocktail hour foyer.

Timing is Key: Make sure you design the timeline to have enough time to dance. Especially if you have diverse music tastes.
