After performing at over 600 weddings throughout Central Ohio, I have learned that the best venues balance visual impact with practical event flow. They give vendors room to work, make guests comfortable, and have a staff that is dedicated to their couple’s needs.
This list includes venues in Columbus and the broader Central Ohio area. These are ten of my favorites.
1. Jorgensen Farms
Jorgensen Farms is one of the first venues I recommend to couples who want a beautiful outdoor setting without sacrificing comfort or professionalism. I perform at Oak Grove often, and it consistently feels intentional from the moment guests arrive.
The property includes multiple wedding spaces, including Oak Grove and The Gardens. Oak Grove combines a covered ceremony space, a main hall that can be decorated many ways, patios, a fountain, and possibly the best staff in Columbus. They consistently make their weddings beautiful and easy.
2. Columbus Museum of Art
The Columbus Museum of Art is one of the most visually distinctive wedding venues in the city. The combination of art, architecture, gallery access, and its downtown location creates an experience that feels special before any décor is added. Their leadership team is experienced, friendly, and passionate about their work.
The Pavilion is modern and flexible, while Edwards Court has an entirely different character with its glass ceiling and Chihuly sculpture. Multiple spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing can make the entire night feel more dynamic.
3. Revery
Revery is an easy choice for couples who want an urban wedding with a strong Columbus identity. Its glass-enclosed rooftop and retractable roof create panoramic skyline views while providing protection from unpredictable Ohio weather.
As the sun sets and the city lights become part of the backdrop, the room naturally shifts into party mode. That transition works especially well for couples who want their reception to feel more like a stylish rooftop event than a traditional ballroom wedding.
4. Retreat 21
Retreat 21 feels like a destination wedding without requiring guests to leave Central Ohio. The property includes 64 acres, indoor and outdoor event spaces, a working winery and cidery, and onsite lodging.
What stands out to me is the ability to turn the wedding into a full weekend experience. Guests can settle in and enjoy the property instead of treating the reception like a single stop. The modern venue design also gives couples a clean backdrop while the surrounding landscape provides warmth and character.
5. The Ohioan
The Ohioan Hotel & Event Center is the best option for couples who value convenience, guest comfort, and a full-service experience. The property combines event spaces, outdoor settings, onsite catering, hotel accommodations, and gathering areas for events before and after the wedding.
That setup can simplify the weekend for couples with out-of-town guests. From an event-flow standpoint, having lodging and multiple gathering spaces in one location is a major advantage. This is also the closest venue to my house, so I may be biased…
6. Vitria on the Square
Vitria on the Square brings a polished, contemporary feel to the Ohio State University area. It sits near the Oval and Mirror Lake and offers expansive views of the campus.
The large ballroom, tall ceilings, and natural light give the room a clean sense of scale. It can handle a substantial guest count while maintaining a clear focal point for the party. It is especially appealing for Ohio State alumni who want the campus to remain part of their wedding story.
7. Cliffside Acres
Cliffside Acres is a private estate in Springfield, approximately 45 minutes west of Columbus. Its modern farmhouse design, white interior, black accents, and outdoor ceremony options feel calm, clean, and customizable. It is impossible to talk about Cliffside Acres without mentioning Jordan, their founder. She is so passionate, caring, and invested in making her couples happy. There is nothing corporate about this venue, and that’s a good thing.
It works well for couples who want a rural setting but prefer a more contemporary look than a traditional rustic barn. Their ceremony space is perfect no matter the weather.
8. Swan Lake
Swan Lake Event Center offers a versatile wedding setting on 20 wooded acres in Powell. The property includes gardens, a lake, multiple ceremony options, and reception spaces for smaller and larger celebrations.
I appreciate venues that provide a reliable indoor plan without making the outdoor portions feel like an afterthought. Swan Lake offers enough variety to build a full day around the property, with a relaxed outdoor atmosphere before the reception energy increases inside.
9. The Stack
The Stack at Municipal Light Plant is one of the most interesting urban venues in Columbus. The historic power plant setting gives it a sense of character that is difficult to recreate inside a newer ballroom. Catering by Cameron Mitchell is always a plus for taste and professionalism.
It is a very large space. The venue includes a grand hall, cellar lounge, outdoor patio, and private preparation suites. The scale supports large weddings, while the separate spaces can help each part of the evening feel distinct. It is a strong fit for couples who want industrial architecture, dramatic lighting, and a downtown location.
10. The Exchange at Bridge Park
The Exchange at Bridge Park is a contemporary venue in Dublin with hardwood floors, raw stone details, river views, and an outdoor courtyard. It can accommodate up to 500 guests for a plated event while still adapting to smaller celebrations.
Its location gives guests easy access to nearby hotels, restaurants, and the rest of Bridge Park. Inside, the neutral palette gives planners and designers room to shape the space, while the open layout supports a large dance floor and clear sightlines.
Choosing the Right Columbus Wedding Venue
The best wedding venue is not simply the one that looks best in photos. It should support the experience you want your guests to have.
Pay attention to how people will move through the space, where the dance floor sits, how close the bar is to the party, whether the room can adapt to your guest count, and how the venue handles weather. Those details directly affect timing, energy, and how easy the night feels.
Each venue on this list offers a different combination of style, location, service, and atmosphere. The right choice depends on whether you want a farm, museum, rooftop, hotel, private estate, or modern urban space.
